It will deliver four Terex STS cranes manufactured at its Chinese plant to Indonesia’s Meratus Line Group for its new container terminal business at the Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta. Delivery will be at the end of 2014.
The terminal will also receive three electrically fed rubber-tyred gantry cranes, with three more going to another Meratus operation in the Port of Surabaya.
Meratus has only just recently moved into terminal operation, and is anticipating rapid development in its business. But it needed to be able to offer high-tech terminal equipment which saves both time and money for its customers first.
Sjarif Hadiwidjaja, managing director, Meratus Line Group, said that they chose Terex equipment because it supplied integrated systems for its operations and because the equipment offers simple solutions for upgrade.
“TPS meets our needs both in terms of its products and its all round service through the port – where the individual elements are compatible with each other and can be easily extended”, he said.
TPS has been working hard on developing tailor made solutions for its customers. It introduced a new sales and service organisation this summer to assign a “go-to” expert to each customer ensuring rapid access to Terex service and support.
