Initial results have shown that the Terminal Dynamic Illumination (TDI) lighting system can save up to 80% of current energy use and costs associated with lighting.
The operation was launched in new facilities adapted to work with LED technology and a dynamic management system – the testing stage can last for up to 1000 hours.
Response times of the TDI system help to ensure the safety conditions which are required in terminals and the lighting levels which will be necessary for port operations. Users of the system have reported improved levels of visibility with reduced glare and light pollution.
The pilot has been created as a part of the European Sea Terminals project which is collecting detailed information in order to produce the profitability report for the TDI system.
The results will be presented during the Sea Terminals Valencia demo day which will be held on the 26 November at the Port Authority of Valencia.
Other pilots will also be tested at this terminal as part of the project, these include a forklift for empty containers both equipped with fuel saving and CO2 emission reduction systems and a 100% electric terminal tractor.
