The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has invited members of the public to comment on the proposed Contrecoeur Port terminal expansion project.
Specifically, the Agency would like to know which aspects of the environment may be affected by this project and what should be examined during the environmental assessment, before it finalises and issues the Environmental Impact Statement, or EIS, Guidelines.
This is the second of four opportunities for members of the public to share their opinions on the proposed project at Contrecoeur’s port territory, which is expected to start construction in 2018 and be fully operational by 2021.
The project would include the creation of a terminal that would handle 1.15m teu containers per year, including two berths and a container handling area; an intermodal rail yard, connected to the main network; a truck entry portal, linked to the highway network; and support facilities.
