The award recognises the authority’s current lighting retrofit of its multi tenanted warehouse which has more than 325,000 sq ft of storage and office space.
The retrofit involves the replacement of 1,200,400 watt sodium vapour light fixtures for high efficiency light fixtures and motion sensors. When complete, the retrofit is expected to result in annual savings of around 940,000 kWh and the project is expected to pay for itself within a year.

The project was funded by HPA’s green initiatives programme which sets aside funding for projects that reduce energy consumption, and from the Ontario Power Authority’s ‘saveONenergy’ incentive programme.
