During the workshop moderated by Alan Lewis, GLEC Director, Smart Freight Centre, attendees will learn how shippers, terminal operators and port authorities can align their methods of carbon footprinting to better reduce emissions and avoid duplications.
In addition, example calculations will be carried out explaining the data required, emissions factors and how and who to report findings to.

Other highlights at this year’s event which focuses on ‘Creating partnerships for sustainable development’ will include a focus on the Port Reception Facilities (PRF) Directive.
Anna Bobo Remijn, European Commission, Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, Maritime Safety Unit, will present the Commission’s proposal during a dedicated session which will focus on how the revisions could affect port and terminal operators.
Networking
With the GreenPort Congress having evolved from the EcoPorts annual conference, it is particularly fitting that the EcoPorts anniversary should be recognised and celebrated at this year’s Networking Dinner, hosted by the Port of Amsterdam.
EcoPorts is the main environmental initiative of the European port sector. It was initiated by a number of proactive ports in 1997 and has been fully integrated into the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) since 2011.
The founding principle of EcoPorts is to create a level playing field on environment through cooperation and sharing of knowledge between ports.
