They will be operated by TICT, a subsidiary of Bolloré Transport & Logistics, in the Tincan area of the Port of Lagos, where increased container traffic in 2021 and beyond is anticipated.

“Liner requirements are constantly evolving, increasingly requiring higher performance cranes with flexibility in cargo handling and twin-lift container operation as larger ships call more frequently at our Port. Our experience with Konecranes equipment has always been excellent. We are pleased to add two more of the Model 7 cranes to our facility,” said Etienne Rocher, MD of TICT.

Lifting capacity of 100t

The new cranes are Konecranes Gottwald Model 7 Mobile Harbor Cranes in the G HMK 7408 variant. With a maximum radius of 54 m, and a maximum lifting capacity of 100t, these cranes can service container ships up to super-post-Panamax class. They will have a customised propping base and double propping pads. The diesel-electric drive is made cost effective as the energy recovered during the crane’s lowering and breaking motions is saved and made available to the crane’s power grid for the next work cycle.

“These cranes will bring the size of the TICT Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Crane fleet to twelve, giving TICT the capacity to reduce vessel Port stay through improved operational efficiency,” said Andreas Czwalinna, regional sales manager for Konecranes Port Solutions.

The cranes will be delivered in August 2021.

Eco-efficient harbour cranes will enable a Nigerian container terminal to accommodate larger vessels and be more sustainable.

[33
["post-1390","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-africa
["GET
