Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has agreed with Mitsui E&amp;S Machinery, Ltd. to commence a joint study to introduce Hydrogen fuel port cargo handling machineries.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the agreement between the Japanese companies, MOL&#8217;s subsidiary Shosen Koun Co., Ltd. has signed a contract for a new near zero emission (NZE) Transtrainer rubber-tired gantry (RTG) container yard crane <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenport.com\/news101\/Products-and-Services\/near-zero-emission-rtg-comes-to-market\" target=\"_blank\">released by Mitsui and PACECO Group in March<\/a>, and will introduce it at the MOL-operated Kobe International Container Terminal (KICT).<\/p>\n<p><strong>NZE RT G cuts emissions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the smaller size of its diesel engine, the NZE RTG improves fuel consumption by 20-30%, and reduces CO2 emissions and other harmful substances in diesel exhaust in comparison with a conventional RTG.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead to the spread of a hydrogen supply infrastructure in the future, Shosen Koun decided to introduce the NZE RTG because the engine specifications make it possible to achieve zero emissions by changing the power source to a hydrogen fuel cell (FC) power unit instead of diesel generator.<\/p>\n<p>KICT is the first facility in Japan, to adopt the NZE RTG, and it is expected to be introduced at the end of May 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The introduction of the NZE RTG matches the concept of Carbon Neutral Port (CNP), an initiative of Japan&#8217;s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism that is aimed at achieving decarbonisation in ports and harbour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hydrogen cargo handling equipment development is being backed by two industry stakeholders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":1445,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[18],"tags":[],"sponsor":[],"class_list":["post-1444","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-alternative-fuels-greenport"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1444","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1444"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1444\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1446,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1444\/revisions\/1446"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1445"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1444"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1444"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1444"},{"taxonomy":"sponsor","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sponsor?post=1444"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
