This provides us with a unique opportunity for more efficient transport options in the Stockholm region, reduces congestion on our roads, and provides our shipping companies and cargo owners with additional possibilities,\u201d explained Fredrik Lindst\u00e5l, chair of the board of Ports of Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cutting congestion and emissions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>German shipping company Reederie Deymann will operate the service. The company introduced the EU class inland waterway container barge <em>Emelie Deymann<\/em> into Lake M\u00e4laren for the launch of the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The 110m<em> Emelie Deymann <\/em>has the capacity to carry 208 TEUs, the equivalent of around 200 road haulage vehicles, reducing road network congestion and significantly decreasing carbon dioxide emissions in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The sailing time is 15 hours and services will begin with two sailings a week.
