Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has issued a tender to select a private operator for the Jawaharlal Nehru Port container terminal.<\/p>\n
Interested parties have been invited to apply for the Request For Qualification (RFQ) document regarding the \u201cSelection of private operator for the project of \u2018Upgradation, Operation, Maintenance and Transfer of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) Through Public Private Partnership (PPP)\u2019 for a concession period of 30 years\u201d.<\/p>\n
Development potential<\/strong><\/p>\n Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) has two berths with a total quay length of 680m and is capable of handling vessels with up to a 15m draft. The capacity of JNPCT terminal is about 1.8m TEUs with a backup yard of approx. 64.97 ha. (including shallow berth area).<\/p>\n Plans for the container terminal include re-development of the 680m container berth which can handle 12,200 TEU vessels; provision of equipment consisting of quay cranes and yard equipment; and carrying out the operation of the terminal in the most efficient way.<\/p>\n Maximum terminal capacity for Phase 1 will be 1.2m TEUs.
