{"id":212,"date":"2018-08-09T21:01:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-09T20:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2018\/08\/09\/commercial-priorities-a-challenge-for-port-safety\/"},"modified":"2018-08-09T21:01:00","modified_gmt":"2018-08-09T20:01:00","slug":"commercial-priorities-a-challenge-for-port-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2018\/08\/09\/commercial-priorities-a-challenge-for-port-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Commercial priorities a challenge for port safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking exclusively to <em>Port Strategy <\/em>at TOC Europe, Mr Stiehler claimed that all too often, terminal operators only invest in technology to meet minimum safety standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cheapest safety technology is often not the one that will 100% minimise risk,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Additionally], there is not one single technology for safety \u2014 it is a combination of technologies,\u201d he said, adding that only that combination can deliver totally safe terminal operation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The consultant also noted that one of the greatest challenges currently facing the ports and terminals sector is open communication for systems.
