{"id":283,"date":"2018-09-19T13:06:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-19T12:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2018\/09\/19\/concern-over-trade-tariffs-impact\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:10:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:10:24","slug":"concern-over-trade-tariffs-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2018\/09\/19\/concern-over-trade-tariffs-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Concern over trade tariffs impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new tariffs take effect on September 24, 2018 with the imposition of a 10% tariff which will increase to 25% by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>AAPA president and CEO Kurt Nagle said: \u201cIncluding the additional $200 billion just imposed, the total Section 301 tariffs on Chinese commodities and China\u2019s response in retaliation responses covers about 10 percent of all trade that moves through America\u2019s ports by value, which is concerning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cBecause trade supports everyone, AAPA is encouraging federal policymakers to work swiftly to restore market certainties and forge paths to expand U.S. exports, rather than create new import restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that port cranes had been removed from the tariff list.
