{"id":2883,"date":"2007-04-01T16:26:00","date_gmt":"2007-04-01T15:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2007\/04\/01\/hph-upbeat-in-felixstowe-potential\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:26:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:26:15","slug":"hph-upbeat-in-felixstowe-potential","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2007\/04\/01\/hph-upbeat-in-felixstowe-potential\/","title":{"rendered":"HPH upbeat in Felixstowe potential"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HPUK&#8217;s port development director Andrew Harston was speaking at the public inquiry into the rail upgrade work that the company is obliged to do in order to move ahead with its Felixstowe South Regeneration (FSR) deepwater container development.<\/p>\n<p>He said the port could be handling 38 container train departures a day by 2023, carrying 1.1m teu per year &#8211; 26% of the port&#8217;s total container throughput.<\/p>\n<p>Rail throughput at the port has increased rapidly in recent years, particularly after gauge heightening work at Ipswich tunnel, and a total of 379,000 boxes went by rail last year (2006).
