First, it supports port authorities in a uniform way in their decision-making process of issuing a license to operate in the port to a LNG bunker facility operator,\u201d said Peter Alkema of the Port of Amsterdam, who is the IAPH Working Group&#8217;s Chairman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecondly, it gives the opportunity for cooperating ports, like IAPH member ports, to share audit results and safety performance information of a bunker facility operator (BFO).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sustainable operations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The tool seeks to ensure that, at the front-end, the responsibilities of the bunker facility operator with respect to safe and sustainable operations are clearly defined and that careful consideration is given to the way LNG bunker operations are organised.<\/p>\n<p>The advantage for a BFO is that, once audited, the BFO may not necessarily have to be re-audited when applying for a license to operate in another cooperating port.<\/p>\n<p>The first LNG bunkering facilities are currently being established at ports to meet the imminent arrival of LNG-powered vessels as they get delivered to their owners by the shipyards.<\/p>\n<p>Participants at the July meeting of the IAPH Working Group in Bremerhaven also took the collective decision to broaden the scope of the Working Group to include Clean Marine Fuels (CMF) in recognition of fast-emerging fuel alternatives such as Methanol and Hydrogen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the thorough work done by Working Group members on an industry standard-level template for licensing LNG bunkering operations, we are confident that we can apply the lessons learnt and methodologies adopted to other alternative fuels such as hydrogen and methanol,\u201d said Mr Alkema.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The IAPH has finalised an industry standard LNG Bunker Operations Audit tool which it says will benefit operators applying for licenses to operate LNG bunkering facilities in multiple locations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":293,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[18],"tags":[],"sponsor":[],"class_list":["post-292","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-alternative-fuels-greenport"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/292","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=292"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/292\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":294,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/292\/revisions\/294"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/293"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=292"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=292"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=292"},{"taxonomy":"sponsor","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sponsor?post=292"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
