DP World, Hutchison Port Holdings Limited (HPH), APM Terminals (APMT), PSA International and Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) are joining the Port of Rotterdam Authority (PRA) for the campaign, taking place between 14 and 21 September 2015.<\/p>\n
It will focus on three main themes: re-use and recycling, climate change and the communities in which the companies operate. A range of activities covering all three themes will be organised by the operators\u2019 local business units to tackle and raise awareness globally.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the big scheme of moving goods from door to door, the container terminal operations component is a relatively small contributor of greenhouse gas emissions,\u201d said Tan Chong Meng, Group CEO, PSA International. \u201cWe are very positive that this joint effort will act as catalyst to \u2018greenify\u2019 our industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSustaining the environment we live in is one of the major concerns of the modern world and something no corporation can ignore,\u201d added Eric Ip, managing director, HPH. \u201cBy putting our efforts together with other major port and maritime industry players for this worthy cause, we hope to lead by example and, in the process, do our bit to create a cleaner, greener world for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition, the campaign aims to identify local partners in an effort to improve the environment with the development and upgrading of local green spaces, launching educational programmes, adopting waste recycling measures and community engagement.<\/p>\n
