{"id":4510,"date":"2016-04-27T16:04:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-27T15:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2016\/04\/27\/hybrid-transport-system\/"},"modified":"2016-04-27T16:04:00","modified_gmt":"2016-04-27T15:04:00","slug":"hybrid-transport-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2016\/04\/27\/hybrid-transport-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Hybrid transport system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aiming to cut fuel and carbon emissions by 25%, the regenerative braking-powered UltraBoost ST is a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) which could be a helping hand to the port transportation industry.<\/p>\n<p>Mack Murray, president of Adgero, said: \u201cThe Adgero UltraBoost ST system has the potential to boost fuel efficiency, reduce overall fuel consumption and reduce associated emissions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause our hybrid system can be easily and economically retrofitted to existing fleets, voluntary fleet-based implementation could have an immediate and meaningful impact on fleet costs and vehicle emissions within a very short timeframe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It uses a compact and lightweight YASA motor to recover kinetic energy, otherwise lost as heat during braking, and stores it in high-power graphene-based ultracapacitors from Skeleton Technologies.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that such systems can be rolled out across ports and terminals across Europe to allow the reduction in emissions and harmful gasses, helping to contribute to green ports.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Murray added: \u201cRoad haulage accounts for over a fifth of the EU\u2019s total CO2 emissions, so fuel efficient solutions are crucial.
