{"id":4853,"date":"2012-05-07T14:02:00","date_gmt":"2012-05-07T13:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2012\/05\/07\/icargo-aims-to-improve-logistics\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:42:33","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:42:33","slug":"icargo-aims-to-improve-logistics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2012\/05\/07\/icargo-aims-to-improve-logistics\/","title":{"rendered":"iCargo aims to improve logistics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The project, titled <em>Intelligent Cargo in Efficient and Sustainable Global Logistics Operations<\/em>, builds upon the success of previous frameworks <i>Freightwise<\/i> and <i>e-Freight<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>iCargo aims to promote collaborative and sustainable supply chains helping the consortium of 29 European organisations involved to share information easily and cooperate better.<\/p>\n<p>It will also develop intelligent cargo centric solutions to address scheduling, routing and security issues.<\/p>\n<p>The overall aim is to enable logistics to become more cost effective and more environmentally friendly, mainly by reducing the number of freight vehicles on the roads.<\/p>\n<p>But it is more than just a research project.
