{"id":5150,"date":"2014-08-15T12:51:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T11:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2014\/08\/15\/ichthys-lng-completes-darwin-dredging\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:44:50","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:44:50","slug":"ichthys-lng-completes-darwin-dredging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2014\/08\/15\/ichthys-lng-completes-darwin-dredging\/","title":{"rendered":"Ichthys LNG completes Darwin dredging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dredging began in August 2012, with Dutch dredging company, Van Oord, leading the programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout dredging, the Project would not have been able to progress marine construction work on the module offloading facility and jetty, which are critical pieces of onshore infrastructure,\u201d explained Harutoshi Usui, dredging manager, INPEX, which part owns Ichthys LNG. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe dredging campaign was also our most visible piece of work in Darwin and an opportunity to show that we could meet our commitments to the community, including environment and heritage commitments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the peak of the dredging campaign we had more than 300 people working on the programme, as well as a range of local businesses including subcontractors for auxiliary marine equipment, workshop, welders, catering, accommodation and transport,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>A smaller dredging programme for the project\u2019s gas export pipeline has also been completed with dredgers.<\/p>\n<p>The Ichthys Project, which is being carried out by Australian oil and gas producer, Inpex, will have an initial capacity to produce 8.4m tonnes of LNG per annum.
