With most other eco ports in the \u2018green\u2019 network situated in Europe, this marks a major milestone in the region and for Taiwan International Port Corporation (TIPC), which has been working hard to enhance the country\u2019s competitiveness and promote green port policies over the years.<\/p>\n
Its Greening the Ports Action Plan led the company to initiate several programmes that focus on its cargo operation, cruise terminal, environmental quality and community outreach. For cargo operations, measures like OCR and RFID technology were implemented to facilitate operational efficiency and reduce emissions.<\/p>\n
In addition, two land-based shore power systems (AMP) are fully operational at Kaohsiung Container Terminal 6, berth 108 and 109. Additional AMPs will be installed at berths 115-117.<\/p>\n
Other initiatives already implemented include lighting in the Port of Kaohsiung being replaced with LED, waste sorting and reduction and improving port experiences with nearby communities.<\/p>\n
The port says it\u2019s worked hard to play its part in protecting and improving its environment, and port administrators hope that these policies help boost Kaohsiung\u2019s international reputation and visibility.<\/p>\n
In addition, TIPC says it\u2019s hoped that EcoPort certification will encourage like-minded shipping companies to not only retain but also consider expanding their operations at the Port of Kaohsiung as well as make the port a new preferred destination for shipping and logistics, increase warehousing volume, and increase overall business performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
