The organisation said that far from being a luxury available only to those port cities with the most illustrious history or the most favourable economic context, dialogue between the city, port, businesses and local community is increasingly key to successful development and a guarantee of better international competitiveness.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s for this reason that AIVP Days have been set up – to initiate this dialogue, which is expected to produce positive results in terms of the way citizens take on board projects and local objectives, local stakeholders are developing a variety of different approaches.<\/p>\n
The theme of the next AIVP Days conference is competing through port-city animation. Four debates will take place during the conference with speakers including Carola Hein, Professor and Head, Chair History of Architecture and Urban Planning, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and Christine Cabau Woehrel, Pr\u00e9sidente du Directoire, Grand Port Maritime de Marseille, France.<\/p>\n
One of AIVP\u2019s newest members is The Normandy Region in France (R\u00e9gion Normandie). With 600 km of coastline and numerous waterways including the Seine, which is committed to a \u201cNormandy Land and Sea\u201d strategy as it seeks to tackle two major challenges, namely the quality of water, onshore and marine aquatic environments and also adapting the coastline to climate change.<\/p>\n
