{"id":5210,"date":"2015-01-05T12:23:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-05T12:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2015\/01\/05\/terminal-efficiency-project\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:45:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:45:24","slug":"terminal-efficiency-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2015\/01\/05\/terminal-efficiency-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Terminal efficiency project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The project takes into account the lessons learned in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenport.com\/news101\/products-and-services\/greencranes-pilot-comes-to-an-end\" target=\"_blank\">GREENCRANES<\/a> project, where results showed that the efficient management of energy use and that the use of alternative fuels is viable and can generate significant benefits at all levels at terminals.<\/p>\n<p>Specific objectives of this new project will be to develop a series of eco-efficient alternatives that are viable from a technical, environmental and financial perspective \u2013 namely a 100% electric terminal tractor and hybrid RTG equipment, as well developing LNG fuelled equipment prototypes.<\/p>\n<p>During the project, the prototypes will be tested using pilot schemes at the Noatum Container Terminal Valencia (NCTV) in the Port of Valencia and in the Livorno Darsena Toscana terminal in the Port of Livorno.<\/p>\n<p>SEA TERMINALS will also include the development of a real-time operational management model that minimises existing bottlenecks in the operations of terminals by assigning different operational modes to the equipment involved.
