The conference will focus on the smartPORT concept developed by conference host, Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) and during the five days delegates will hear plenty about the concept of intelligent port management.<\/p>\n
Among the speakers, Jens Meier, CE, HPA, will demonstrate how IT-supported infrastructure makes economic and logistical processes more efficient and sustainable in the Port of Hamburg.<\/p>\n
Michael Pal, principal logistics analyst, Fremantle Ports, will demonstrate an Australian perspective on intelligent port management using the example of \u201cTruck Marshalling Automation and Key Performance Indicator Control.\u201d<\/p>\n
Representatives from Stockholm, Valencia and the Far East will also attempt to answer the question of what makes a port a smartPORT.<\/p>\n
The last day of the conference will focus on cruise shipping, port legislation and air quality in ports, all of which will be discussed in parallel sessions.<\/p>\n
In the session on cruise shipping, Douglas Ward, author of the Berlitz Cruise Guides, will explain the \u201cwow\u201d effect and why delivering it is crucial to cruise business.<\/p>\n
The conference will be enhanced by an enjoyable social programme that will provide attendees with the opportunity to explore Hamburg and network with colleagues.<\/p>\n
