Ltd, a unit of real estate group Hiranandani, will begin operations at its LNG terminal in Maharashtra by May 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already laid a 60 kilometre pipeline connecting our plant to the Jaigarh port,\u201d Darshan Hiranandani, managing director and CEO of H-Energy, told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>USD$261m investment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>H-Energy has invested 17bn rupees (USD$261m) to build its 4 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) regassification terminal near Jaigarh Port, Mr Hiranandani said.<\/p>\n<p>He added his firm would initially import spot cargoes to make the fuel affordable to Indian customers.<\/p>\n<p>India plans to raise the share of natural gas in its energy mix to 15% in three years from the current 6.5%, according to a plan set out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s government.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expansion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The company aims to expand the plant to 10m tonnes per annum (mtpa), Mr Hiranandani said.<\/p>\n<p>Before beginning the phase of expansion, the CEO said the company wanted to first build a 600km pipeline to connect its plant in Mangalore.<\/p>\n<p>Other LNG projects in India include a 5 mtpa terminal at Ennore on the eastern coast and a 5 mtpa terminal at Mundra in Gujarat in the west.<\/p>\n<p>H-Energy is also building another LNG terminal off the coast of Kolkata in the Bay of Bengal.
