CGSA, which manages container and multipurpose terminal operations at the Port of Guayaquil in Ecuador, recently received President of Ecuador Len\u00edn Moreno, who highlighted the company\u2019s facility investment and witnessed the inauguration of its new greenfield terminal development, an expanded logistics support area.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn these facilities, the Contecon concessionaire invested US$10 million. This amount is part of the US$325 million they pledged to invest for twenty years (up to 2027), on Port Authority grounds,\u201d President Moreno told the people of Guayas province during a visit last month.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, we should highlight that, in these 10 years, Contecon already has invested US$360 million \u2013 US$35 million more than expected,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Long-term benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n President Moreno signed two inter-institutional agreements to carry out a project to restore the port area in Guayaquil, as well as the creation of a technological institute with careers related to commercial and maritime development.<\/p>\n The new logistics support area is designed to handle more than 6,000 containers, aimed at supporting Ecuador\u2019s economic, industrial and commercial growth.<\/p>\n Anders Kjeldsen, ICTSI senior vice president and regional head for the Americas, emphasised that ICTSI is committed to the development of Guayaqil and strengthening its position as a trading gateway for Ecuador.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cWe are confident that the new terminal area will boost efficiency and speed the movement of import and export cargo supporting the country\u2019s rapid growth.\u201d<\/p>\n ICTSI and CGSA are partners of the Ecuadorian government\u2019s private-public partnership programmes, designed to generate in-country jobs and investment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" International Container Terminal Services, Inc.
