{"id":5615,"date":"2018-02-19T11:20:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-19T11:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/coastlink\/2018\/02\/19\/confusion-over-kampot-construction\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:49:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:49:18","slug":"confusion-over-kampot-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/coastlink\/2018\/02\/19\/confusion-over-kampot-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"Confusion over Kampot construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Construction of the project, to be located in Kampot\u2019s Teuk Chhou district, is expected to begin in March, local officials told the <em>Khmer Times<\/em>, and will be built with a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).<\/p>\n<p>However, the ADB has not confirmed this, stating only that the \u201ccontract for Kampot Pier development and access road [is] expected to be awarded in March 2018\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank is committing some $18m to the project, it added.<\/p>\n<p>Local officials in Cambodia are already enthusiastic about the port, which will support growing tourist numbers. They say ground-breaking will take place in less than two months, with the port expected to be finished by the end of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Four hectares have been allocated for the port.
