As the world’s largest international shipping association, BIMCO is a welcome returnee as a Supporter at next year\u2019s 25th<\/sup> Coastlink Conference in Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

The independent Denmark-based association represents over 2,100 members in more than 120 countries, including shipowners, managers, brokers, agents and other stakeholders in the global shipping industry.<\/p>\n

BIMCO is widely recognised as a catalyst for the development and promotion of fair and equitable international shipping policy, acting on behalf of its global membership to promote higher standards and greater harmony in regulatory matters. It is also accredited as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and holds observer status with a number of United Nations bodies.<\/p>\n

As part of its on-going mission to provide a broad range of advisory and consulting services to its members, BIMCO recently asked the industry to share practical experience on challenges and best practices related to operational crewing and compliance with work and rest hour requirements.<\/p>\n

With fatigue management, crewing and seafarers\u2019 rest increasingly on the international regulatory agenda, and directly linked to safe ship operation, the survey will help BIMCO build balanced evidence on how these issues are managed in practice, supporting its wider work on workforce sustainability, as well as its engagement in IMO discussions.<\/p>\n

The survey aims to build a clearer picture of how crewing levels, workload, rest hour compliance, recording practices and compliance monitoring are managed in practice across different ship types, trades and operational patterns \u2013 both where current arrangements work well and where practical challenges may arise.<\/p>\n
