SOHAR Port and Freezone\u2019s Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Sohar University and Qualies (the Organization for Quality and Innovation Strategies) involves a tree planting initiative to be implemented in designated areas within the Port and Freezone, to boost ecological protection and management, as well as ensuring all SOHAR\u2019s operations are compliant with Oman\u2019s sustainability objectives.<\/p>\n
Suwaid Al Shemaisi, executive manager of corporate affairs at SOHAR, said: \u201cEfficient environmental management is integral to every business to ensure its continuity. Together with Qualies\u2019 knowledge and expertise in planting native tree species and the resources offered by Sohar University, we at SOHAR can continue making a positive impact on the environment. This venture will also further our journey towards becoming a greener port and free zone complex.\u201d<\/p>\n
Greenhouse growth<\/strong><\/p>\n The project will start at Sohar University\u2019s self-sufficient greenhouse facility, which is capable of producing several varieties of plants, and boasts technologies to generate its own electricity and run desalination processes through solar power.<\/p>\n The seeds of native trees will be nurtured at the greenhouse by utilising hydroponic technologies.
