W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 and PSA Marine will open a dedicated Acceleration Centre in Singapore. As well as the use of electric or hybrid technologies, collaboration areas include the incorporation of next-generation smart vessel technologies, the adoption of secured connectivity to facilitate ship-to-shore data exchange and marketing activities that generate awareness.<\/p>\n

\u201cPSA Marine and W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 intend to lead and develop smart, scalable, and clean energy solutions for the longer term, as we play our part towards decarbonisation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions,\u201d said Peter Chew, managing director of PSA Marine.<\/p>\n

One such collaboration already underway is the IntelliTug project which is currently undergoing testing<\/a> on board PSA Marine\u2019s PSA Polaris tug. Among the enabling technologies employed so far are the joystick and digital control of the vessel\u2019s azimuth thrusters, virtual anchoring to hold position, smart navigation with automatic path planning, and situational awareness for detecting and avoiding collisions.<\/p>\n

The IntelliTug project has also been largely instrumental in the launch of W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4\u2019s Smart Technology Lab in Singapore, providing facilities for testing integrated technologies in close cooperation with customers and end-users.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
