{"id":1698,"date":"2010-12-15T17:56:00","date_gmt":"2010-12-15T17:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport-congress\/2010\/12\/15\/sri-lanka-hot-for-port-development\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:32:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:32:19","slug":"sri-lanka-hot-for-port-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport-congress\/news\/asia\/sri-lanka-hot-for-port-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Sri Lanka hot for port development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Concerns about China\u2019s involvement in the port sector were also waved away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are developing several other ports and expanding Colombo port,\u201d said Prof Gamini Lakshman Peiris, Sri Lanka\u2019s Minister of External Affairs, after a speech in Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p>Moving to quash concerns about Beijing\u2019s involvement in the sector &#8211; Chinese money built the new facility at Hambantota &#8211; Mr Peiris said: \u201cThere is no exclusivity.
