{"id":391,"date":"2019-08-07T14:55:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-07T13:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport-congress\/2019\/08\/07\/warning-over-call-for-port-nationalisation\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:22:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:22:32","slug":"warning-over-call-for-port-nationalisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport-congress\/news\/oceania\/warning-over-call-for-port-nationalisation\/","title":{"rendered":"Warning over call for port nationalisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Australian Labour MP Nick Champion said that Darwin Port, which Chinese company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/news101\/world\/australasia\/Controversial-lease-of-Darwin-to-China\" target=\"_blank\">Landbridge Group has a 99-year lease<\/a> for from the Australian government, should be \u201cnationalised\u201d but Neil Davidson, senior analyst &#8211; ports &amp; terminals at Drewry, told <em>Port Strategy<\/em> that this would \u201cundermine trust\u201d in future deals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the government reneges on a done deal, then it would undermine trust in all other Australian port deals,\u201d he said.
