A subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group has signed a cooperation agreement with TotalEnergies to solarise its assets.
The agreement between Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi - KEZAD Group, and TotalEnergies Renewables, seeks to build a solar installation across KEZAD’s industrial ecosystem.
“This agreement is in line with our strategy to develop renewable energy and provide our partners and customers with clean, reliable and affordable energy solutions,” said Hamady Sy, managing director, TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation Middle East and Africa.

Clean energy
KEZAD Group’s wants to produce clean energy across its sites which cover a total land area of 550 square kilometres including 100 square kilometres designated as Free Zones, which is home to more than 1,750 investors.
Under the agreement, each partner will contribute its best-in-class expertise and technologies to conduct a series of feasibility studies for distributed solar generation at KEZAD, covering economic, commercial, regulatory and technical aspects.
This agreement comes as Abu Dhabi accelerates its development of solar energy solutions to support the wider UAE net zero emissions by 2050 agenda.
The emirate plans to install 5.6 gigawatts of solar PV capacity by 2026 and is currently developing the world’s largest solar plant with a capacity of 2 gigawatts in the Al Dhafra region.
