The demolition will improve the site, enabling major brownfield redevelopment while protecting the environment. An environmental assessment has been conducted and an Environmental Management Plan is in place to protect the environment during the demolition process. Hazardous materials will be safely removed in accordance with regulations to ensure the health and safety of on-site workers and adjacent property owners. The contract was awarded to Murray Demolition, who mobilized on the property at the end of March. Steel products were manufactured at the site for some 40 years until 2004.
