{"id":10464,"date":"2013-02-12T14:06:00","date_gmt":"2013-02-12T14:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2013\/02\/12\/european-commission-looks-for-climate-solutions\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:59:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:59:07","slug":"european-commission-looks-for-climate-solutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/europe-greenport\/european-commission-looks-for-climate-solutions\/","title":{"rendered":"European Commission looks for climate solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <i>World You Like Challenge<\/i>, which is open for three months, aims to provide a platform to showcase projects from individuals or organisations based in an EU Member State whose aim is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.<\/p>\n<p>Connie Hedegaard, EU Commissioner for Climate Action, who launched the contest, said: &#8220;The challenge is a great opportunity to move beyond mere talking about climate change. By submitting your project, you help us show that building a world we like with a climate we like is both feasible and affordable. And it won&#8217;t make our lives dull and grey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A jury led by Ms Hedegaard will select three winners from a shortlist, who will be honoured at the Sustainia Award Ceremony in Copenhagen in October 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign has a special focus on Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania, Poland and Portugal. The national winners in these countries will see their projects featured in a national billboard campaign in autumn 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission\u2019s climate action campaign, which was launched in October 2012, aims to promote cost-efficient solutions for achieving the EU\u2019s objective of an 80% to 95% reduction in GHG emissions by 2050, as well as to encourage new solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its climate action campaign, \u2018A world you like.
