LNG from Australia will become an important factor in meeting growing LNG demand in Asia. At the same time, the domestic market in eastern Australia is poised for new challenges as it prepares to compete with global demand for gas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LNG exports are set to take off from the Queensland port of Gladstone in 2015 and with three new production plants expected to come on line this year. This new supply of LNG will not only have a significant impact on Asia Pacific markets, but also on Australian natural gas customers as the sector becomes more competitive.<\/p>\n<p>The first export shipment of LNG bound for Asia was loaded from Curtis Island off Gladstone in central Queensland in January.<\/p>\n<p>With three new LNG projects being developed in Gladstone, its whole LNG infrastructure had to be created from scratch, a process which has taken six years.<\/p>\n<p>The first pipelines had to be laid, processing plants were constructed and Gladstone&#8217;s harbour was dredged.
