Evac says the company’s Multi-Purpose-Waste-Management-System (MPWMS) is seeing strong demand, especially from the cruise and ferry sectors, and with this acquisition, Evac says it’s now able to offer total, flexible multipurpose waste management solutions, both in recycling and recovery, as well as in energy efficient thermal treatment, from one source.

In addition, Evac says the acquisition will also strengthen its work with ports. Toni Okkonen, global marketing manager, told GreenPort: “We don’t distribute any equipment to ports directly, but we want to make the logistics from the vessels to quay side as efficient as possible. We handle the waste streams accordingly and minimise waste volume onboard so we can try to save space and help port reception facilities manage smaller waste volumes.”

The company provides a range of dry and wet waste solutions for the marine industry, including membrane bioreactor (MBR) units, advanced black and grey wastewater treatment solutions for all vessels. All Evac MBR units are certified according to IMO MARPOL MEPC.159(55), therefore meeting the requirements of MARPOL Annex IV for passenger ships in restricted areas like the Baltic Sea. The Evac MBR units also fulfill the requirements of the River Rhine rules. Evac also offers USCG-certified MBR units.

Evac has previously worked with the Port of Stockholm and Port Authority of Helsinki to ensure waste collecting onboard vessels are in line with the land-based recycling systems so logistics as run efficiently.

“Land side waste handling equipment is not something that has directly been in the focus, but it’s an interesting option to think of in the future,” Mr Okkonen added.

“Evac is giving the right answer to the continuous restructuring, optimisation and concentration processes of ship operators and European yards, but also with a view to the developing Asian markets, especially China, where Evac already has a strong presence, this merger is happening at the right moment,” Jochen Deerberg, founder and CEO of Deerberg concluded.

Finland-based Evac Group is expanding its offering of environmentally-friendly water, waste and wastewater collection and treatment equipment following its acquisition of Deerberg-Systems GmbH.

[22
["post-10925","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-products-services-greenport
["GET
