{"id":1149,"date":"2020-09-24T18:28:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-24T17:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2020\/09\/24\/guidance-makes-lng-bunkering-safer\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:49:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:49:02","slug":"guidance-makes-lng-bunkering-safer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/alternative-fuels-greenport\/guidance-makes-lng-bunkering-safer\/","title":{"rendered":"Guidance makes LNG bunkering safer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The IAPH-WPSP LNG Ready Terminal guidance tool details procedures and operational preparedness actions of terminals to assure a safe handling of LNG-fuelled vessels, including a safe ship-to-ship bunkering of LNG-fuelled vessels alongside the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>The Port of Rotterdam&#8217;s Cees Boon, lead on the LNG Ready Terminal tool, commented: \u201cThis sought-after tool is now available for ports to use and completes the IAPH suite of tools for LNG bunkering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is the latest in a series of tools designed to equip port authorities with the necessary instruments to ensure safe bunkering of LNG in response to the increasing uptake of LNG-fuelled newbuild and retrofitted vessels calling at their ports.<\/p>\n<p>These tools are the work of IAPH Clean Marine Fuels (CMF) working group participants, comprising thirteen member ports. The tools all are the result of translating the concepts of system safety, spatial allocation and operational safety into practical instruments.<\/p>\n<p>The tools have been developed over an eight-year period, during which LNG operations at ports have steadily increased.
