MAGPIE brought ports, businesses, research institutions and governments together to develop solutions for more sustainable and efficient port operations.

The platform covers electrification, alternative fuels, automation, resilience and digitalisation. For each technology, users can explore potential applications, implementation requirements, expected impacts and enabling factors. Filters allow ports to identify relevant information according to their priorities, challenges, objectives and timelines.

EFIP director Turi Fiorito said the platform would help inland ports learn from projects already implemented elsewhere.

“The Green Innovation Compass allows for inland ports to see what projects others have already realised,” he said, adding that accessible case studies could inspire ports to develop their own solutions.

ESPO and EFIP said making the platform available through their websites would improve access to expertise, encourage the exchange of best practices and support wider adoption of innovative technologies.

The Compass is designed to evolve as the sector develops, with users encouraged to contribute new knowledge, experiences and practical examples.

To secure its long-term continuity after MAGPIE concludes, ALICE (Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe) will act as the platform’s legacy partner.

A new platform is consolidating European port innovation expertise, helping maritime and inland ports accelerate their green and digital transitions

[34,8
354,2710,176,2709

post-12380","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-europe-greenport","category-projects-initiatives-greenport","tag-digitalisation","tag-efip","tag-espo","tag-green-innovation-compass
["GET
