Trials demonstrated fast charging using both automatic and manual connection systems under real-world operating conditions.

The modular and scalable design can deliver power outputs of up to 2.25 MW, potentially supporting vessels with significantly higher energy requirements and helping expand the role of battery-powered shipping.

Fundación Valenciaport led the project’s studies into replicability and technical and economic feasibility. This work examined how the charging technology could be adapted to different port environments and business models, identifying approaches to implementation that are both efficient and cost-effective.

The project has also contributed to the development of future international maritime standards. Practical experience gained during testing is informing the drafting of IEC/IEEE 80005-4, which will establish international requirements for direct current electrical connections between ships and shore infrastructure.

Following the project’s completion, Fundación Valenciaport will share the findings with the wider port community and maritime businesses to encourage adoption of the technology and support the transition towards emission-free shipping.

The HYPOBATT consortium brought together 16 organisations, including project coordinator Ikerlan, Fundación Valenciaport, Heliox, RINA, Damen Research Development & Innovation, Stemmann-Technik and several European research and technology institutions.

The European HYPOBATT project has successfully tested megawatt ship-charging technology, advancing maritime electrification and future international charging standards

[46,34,8
2727,1467,1950,2728,2729

post-12442","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy-technology-greenport","category-europe-greenport","category-projects-initiatives-greenport","tag-battery-charging","tag-fundacion-valenciaport","tag-horizon-europe","tag-hypobatt","tag-ultra-fast-charging
["GET
