{"id":1592,"date":"2021-08-25T19:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-25T18:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2021\/08\/25\/baltic-wind-force\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:51:42","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:51:42","slug":"baltic-wind-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/energy-technology-greenport\/baltic-wind-force\/","title":{"rendered":"Baltic wind force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bornholm island-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenport.com\/news101\/energy-and-technology\/danish-port-welcomes-offshore-wind-investment\" target=\"_blank\">Port of Roenne <\/a>has been selected as the wind turbine installation port for Iberdrola\u2019s 476MW Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm, situated in German waters 40km west of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Bendtsen, CEO at Port of Roenne, said: \u201cIt is very positive that Iberdrola and Vestas have selected the Port of Roenne as the installation port for the Baltic Eagle-project. This underlines our services are competitive. At the same time we are continuously implementing initiatives to improve the services offered to our customers in the market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vestas will supply the wind farm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Iberdrola and Vestas have signed a contract for the supply of 50 units of the offshore wind turbine V174-9.5 MW for the Baltic Eagle wind farm, which spans a 40km2 area.<\/p>\n<p>All 50 turbines will in 2024 be pre-assembled and installed out of the Port of Roenne.<\/p>\n<p>Baltic Eagle is Iberdrola\u2019s second major German offshore initiative following the successful completion in 2017 of the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm.<\/p>\n<p>Baltic Eagle will connect to the Lubmin substation through two newly established HV cables.<\/p>\n<p>Together, Wikinger and Baltic Eagle will be the largest offshore wind complex in the Baltic Sea, with over 826MW joint installed capacity and a total investment of roughly \u20ac2.5bn.<\/p>\n<p>The cluster is expected to prevent the release of nearly 1.65m tonnes of CO2 each year.<\/p>\n<p>The Baltic Eagle wind farm alone will prevent the release of around 1m tonnes of CO2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Danish port will play a key part in the construction of a major Baltic offshore wind farm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":1593,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[46],"tags":[],"sponsor":[],"class_list":["post-1592","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy-technology-greenport"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1592","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1592"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1592\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1594,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1592\/revisions\/1594"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1593"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1592"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1592"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1592"},{"taxonomy":"sponsor","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sponsor?post=1592"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
