Hutchison Ports BEST at the Port of Barcelona has signed an agreement with Endesa to contract 100% renewable energy.<\/p>\n
The terminal said this will enable it to reduce its CO2 emissions by more than half (8,300 tonnes) setting a benchmark in its use of renewable energy.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom 2022 onwards, 100% of BEST\u2019s electricity will come from renewable sources. In this way, we are at the forefront of sustainability in the port sector, becoming the greenest container terminal in the Mediterranean,\u201d said Guillermo Belcastro, CEO of Hutchison Ports BEST.<\/p>\n
Renewable focus<\/strong><\/p>\n The terminal is also upping its game when it comes to the use of other renewables.<\/p>\n BEST\u2019s next focus is to increase its use of solar by expanding the number of solar panels for self-consumption with a total surface area of 4,763 m2.
