{"id":1995,"date":"2022-02-10T10:17:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T10:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2022\/02\/10\/100-biofuel-bunkering\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:54:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:54:12","slug":"100-biofuel-bunkering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/alternative-fuels-greenport\/100-biofuel-bunkering\/","title":{"rendered":"100% biofuel bunkering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In September 2021, feeder vessel <em>Elbsummer<\/em> was bunkered with a 50\/50 mix of biofuel and MGO before an engine overhaul which allowed 100% biofuel to be trialled.<\/p>\n<p>Unifeeder supplied 400 tonnes of VARO\u2019s Advanced Renewable Biofuel B100A during <em>Elbsummer<\/em>\u2019s recent call to the Port of Rotterdam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to operate our vessels on 100% biofuel is a true game-changer and a major stepping stone on Unifeeder\u2019s journey towards net-zero emissions,\u201d said Hans Staal, director, Fuel Supply at Unifeeder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe applaud the support and constructive approach seen from the vessel\u2019s owners, Elbdeich Reederei, and look forward to implementing biofuels on many other vessels in our fleet during 2022,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>VARO\u2019s biofuels are produced from certified feedstocks labelled as waste or residue.
