{"id":2097,"date":"2022-03-25T07:55:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T07:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2022\/03\/25\/green-shore-power\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:54:46","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:54:46","slug":"green-shore-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/alternative-fuels-greenport\/green-shore-power\/","title":{"rendered":"Green shore power"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The study, delivered in collaboration with Connected Places Catapult, found that 78% of emissions at the port are caused by vessels at berth and that by switching to shore power these could be almost wiped out entirely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProviding green shore power is a win from the port, our customers, the community and the environment,\u201d said Bob Sanguinetti, chief executive of Aberdeen Harbour Board.<\/p>\n<p>Solutions have been compared and a demonstrator project could be in place providing green shore power in the port within two years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now need commitment and collaboration as well as investment from the public and private sector to deliver the demonstrator project,\u201d said Bob Sanguinetti.<\/p>\n<p>Funded with a grant of more than \u00a3400,000 from the UK government\u2019s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, the project drew on a variety of stakeholder views and data analysis to build a comprehensive picture of the needs of shipowners and port users.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Connected Places Catapult, Buro Happold, Tyndall Centre and bp also provided support to the project.
