The study, which will run until the end of the year, will develop a roadmap for the potential introduction of offshore charging infrastructure developed by Maersk Supply Service-owned Stillstrom.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s ocean clean-tech concept provides a platform for vessels to use either wind-generated or grid electricity whilst on standby outside port, thereby reducing the use of fossil fuels whilst vessels idle.<\/p>\n

Stillstrom chief executive Kristian B. Jorgensen, said the study was a cornerstone in the company\u2019s strategy for its \u2018Ports & Hub\u2019 segment. \u201cTogether with Port of Aberdeen as a close partner, we will be able to map and show the true value of utilising electricity for idling vessels \u2013 which we expect will not only support the journey towards a net-zero ocean economy and a better near coastal environment, but also an economically attractive solution for vessels owners to utilise.\u201d<\/p>\n
