The improvements will help the Port of Milford Haven to strengthen its position in the floating offshore wind industry.<\/p>\n
Commercial director at the Port of Milford Haven, Steve Edwards, said it was \u2018fantastic\u2019 to see this development under way. \u201cThe new upgraded spaces and facilities will be perfect for the growing low carbon industry around the Celtic Sea as well as the supply chain companies that will benefit from the opportunities created here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The modernisation of the Port\u2019s infrastructure, which is also creating new office and workshop spaces, forms part of the Pembroke Dock Marine project, a \u00a360m partnership between the Port of Milford Haven, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Marine Energy Wales and Celtic Sea Power.<\/p>\n
The project is funded by the UK and Welsh governments, with input from industry and the European Regional Development Fund.<\/p>\n
The development will both help safeguard jobs and promote investment in the local area as well as further the UK\u2019s renewable energy ambitions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to invest in the waterway in order to sustain employment but also to ensure it remains the UKs leading energy port,\u201d said Cllr Paul Miller, Pembrokeshire County Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Place, the Region and Climate Change.<\/p>\n
