Taking the current fleet of RTGs from nine to 17, the new electric versions will replace diesel models helping the port meets its decarbonisation goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cVolumes at PSA\u2019s Atlantic Hub have grown rapidly over the last three years,\u201d said Jan Van Mossevelde, chief executive of PSA Halifax.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new E-RTGs will allow us to densify our container yard and increase our total terminal handling capacity in Halifax by over 25% while bringing us closer to achieving our sustainability goals,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The PSA Group has committed itself to reducing its carbon emissions by half by 2030 compared with 2019 and to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.<\/p>\n
