The expansion will see the number of solar cell systems increase to eleven, with a total production capacity of 1,545 MWh per year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPorts of Stockholm\u2019s investment in solar electricity is fully aligned with our environmental goals,\u201d said Jens Holm, chair of the board of Ports of Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision means that in future almost one-tenth of the electricity we use will be generated by our own solar cell systems,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The new installations are planned for rooftops at Frihamnen port, V\u00e4rtahamnen port and Port of Kapellsk\u00e4r. Construction work is expected to begin during the first half of 2024 with the system up and running by the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Ports of Stockholm is aligned with the City of Stockholm\u2019s ambition to be fossil fuel-free by 2040. The company previously set a goal to increase the proportion of solar electricity by 50% by 2026.
