{"id":3605,"date":"2023-08-18T13:48:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T12:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2023\/08\/18\/uk-ccus-project-gets-under-way\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:06:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:06:02","slug":"uk-ccus-project-gets-under-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/projects-initiatives-greenport\/uk-ccus-project-gets-under-way\/","title":{"rendered":"UK CCUS project gets under way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The two will examine the possibility of collecting and storing the gas at the Stanlow Terminal at the Port of Liverpool before delivering to Eni UK\u2019s transport and storage facilities currently in development in the north west.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to eventually connect multiple emitters with Eni UK\u2019s storage through an open access system able to sequester substantial volumes of CO2.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement follows Stanlow Terminal\u2019s announcement of plans to develop open access green&nbsp;ammonia facilities on the River Mersey, supporting the ambition of owner Essar Energy Transition to become Europe\u2019s leading integrated energy transition hub.<\/p>\n<p>Developing CO2 ship transportation will play a significant role in the expansion of CCS infrastructure,&nbsp;by offering feasible and flexible routes between sources and storage sites, says Stanlow Terminals.<\/p>\n<p>Stanlow Terminals is part of Essar Energy Transition.
