{"id":3616,"date":"2023-08-24T08:56:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-24T07:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2023\/08\/24\/mawani-and-rotterdam-ink-smart-ports-deal\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:06:09","slug":"mawani-and-rotterdam-ink-smart-ports-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/projects-initiatives-greenport\/mawani-and-rotterdam-ink-smart-ports-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Mawani and Rotterdam ink smart ports deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The deal will see the two work together on port corporatisation, whereby terminal operations are outsourced to the private sector whilst ownership and regulation remains under government control.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement also includes supporting marine eco systems and a \u2018green ports initiative\u2019 aimed at creating economic and social values.<\/p>\n<p>The national maritime regulator had earlier inked a deal with Port of Antwerp International to bolster cooperation in port optimisation, digital transformation and capacity building in line with its objective to strengthen corporate governance, organisational excellence and growth.<\/p>\n<p>The latest agreement falls under Mawani\u2019s broader strategy to drive sustainable progress within the maritime sector as part of the ambitions set by Saudi Vision 2030.<\/p>\n<p>In February this year, Mawani, with Danish shipping giant Maersk, started work on a multi-purpose, environmentally friendly logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port.
