{"id":3731,"date":"2023-09-25T10:23:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T09:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2023\/09\/25\/the-argument-for-a-new-uk-green-hydrogen-hub\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:06:54","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:06:54","slug":"the-argument-for-a-new-uk-green-hydrogen-hub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/alternative-fuels-greenport\/the-argument-for-a-new-uk-green-hydrogen-hub\/","title":{"rendered":"The argument for a new UK green hydrogen hub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Freeport East Green Hub report&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeporteast.com\/why\/green-energy\/hydrogen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u2018Strategic analysis of the role of hydrogen in driving green corridors and transport decarbonisation at Freeport East<\/a>\u2019 argues how the port can facilitate the international partnerships and investment necessary for a green hydrogen hub.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis latest report confirms our goal for Freeport East to act as a hub for transport decarbonisation, reducing emissions both on land and at sea,\u201d&nbsp;said&nbsp;Steve Beel, chief executive of Freeport East.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt highlights opportunities to build new partnerships that will support maritime decarbonisation on a global level, while also providing local economic and employment opportunities within the Freeport East area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ambitious objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The port is currently exploring the potential of becoming a hydrogen hub with ScottishPower.
