The first preliminary license to a green hydrogen production company has been handed over in Cear\u00e1 to the Australian multinational Fortescue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have been working for a long time to ensure that Cear\u00e1 becomes a global hub for green hydrogen production. And today, we present the State\u2019s effort so that these projects can come to fruition,\u201d said Elmano de Freitas, Cear\u00e1 Governor.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe handed Fortescue the preliminary environmental license, approved by the State Environmental Council, after technical and careful analyses carried out by State Environmental Superintendency (Semace).\u201d<\/p>\n
Hydrogen partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n The multinational is one of four companies that have a pre-contract signed with the Government of Cear\u00e1 for the production of H2V in the Pec\u00e9m Industrial and Port Complex. <\/p>\n In addition to the new license, a bill has also been signed that allows the renewal of the assignment of the use of land in the Pec\u00e9m Industrial and Port Complex (CIPP) and the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) to be used in the implementation of the project.<\/p>\n The term, which is currently 20 years, will be extended to 40 years, with the possibility of renewal for another 40 years.<\/p>\n For the superintendent of Semace, this moment of prior approval of the Fortescue company\u2019s license is the most important of the steps taken until the actual implementation of the company\u2019s project in Cear\u00e1.<\/p>\n This stage is where the Environmental Impact Study is carried out and the viability of the project is effectively attested. <\/p>\n After this approval, the next step is the installation license, which effectively allows works to begin.<\/p>\n Cear\u00e1 has already signed 34 memorandums of understanding with national and international companies for the green hydrogen production chain at CIPP. It has also signed four pre-contracts. The indication is that investments could exceed R$145 billion.<\/p>\n
