{"id":3928,"date":"2023-12-14T11:18:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-14T11:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2023\/12\/14\/trelleborg-looks-to-achieve-self-sufficiency\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:07:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:07:47","slug":"trelleborg-looks-to-achieve-self-sufficiency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/europe-greenport\/trelleborg-looks-to-achieve-self-sufficiency\/","title":{"rendered":"Trelleborg looks to achieve self-sufficiency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 120 metre high turbines, producing around 15 million kWh per year, will help the port \u2013 Scandinavia\u2019s largest in terms of RoRo traffic \u2013 achieve its goal of energy self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very much looking forward to a such experienced company as Enercon to build our wind turbines,\u201d said Ulf Sonesson, landlord at the Port of Trelleborg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new wind turbines, together with the Port of Trelleborg\u2019s own solar park of 2,200 square metres, will produce more green energy than we consume,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Achieving net-zero<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The port aims to reach net-zero by 2040 through the transition to greener fuels such as hydrogen and by creating a charging infrastructure running on energy from renewable sources.<\/p>\n<p>Plans for all vessels to use shoreside power from 2030 will mean a significantly higher energy consumption.<\/p>\n<p>The wind turbines will be situated on the 500m quay and are expected to be ready at the end of 2024.
